PostHeaderIcon Ela Family farm

Located in Hotchkiss Colorado Ela family farms is, as its name entitles, a family-owned all organic farm. Their biggest crops are Apples and Peaches, and they have other crops in smaller scale such as heirloom tomatoes, berries, cherries, plums and pears.
They also produce the best jams, fruit butters and apple sauce we have ever tried.
We had the opportunity to visit their farm and tour the Hotchkiss and Paonia towns where we had found great food and even better company

We have been very fortunate to have found and work with Ela Family Farms. All of the members of the Ela family are extremely kind and knowledgeable.
For two years we have been using their products as part of our baked goods. One of our most popular cakes is our light lemon curd cake with their yummy raspberry-peach jam.
They are part of many of the farmers markets that go on in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins. Their fruit season is about to start and let me tell you, you won't find better tasting peaches and apples any where else.
We encourage you to visit them at the farmers market not only you would get a fantastic/tasty product, you would be supporting local farmers!

PostHeaderIcon Lace!

We had a great time this weekend going all around town and the mountains. One of our favorite weddings was this at the Hotel Boulderado in Boulder. The bride loved the lace on her dress and wanted to make it a big part of her cake.
The hotel has a sweet charm to it, with lots of dark wood and the amazing glass ceiling. The day was beautiful and we were able to enjoy a short walk along the river before heading back. Pictures of our other weddings to come!

PostHeaderIcon Nature!

This weekend we had a lot of pretty cakes. This cake certainly got our attention.

The couple Vanessa and Adam had their very nature inspire wedding at the Wild Horse Inn, surrounded by trees, wild flowers and singing birds.

To a very fun couple, congratulations on your wedding and a life full of happiness!

PostHeaderIcon Colorful and Classic

When Andrea (the bride) came to me with the idea of a cake with this design i got so excited! It is fresh and fun and i loved it.
We had 3 flavors of cake starting with a vanilla bean cream filled cake with srtawberry-pear jam from Ela Family farms, next tier was almond with hazelnut buttercream and chocolate-hazelnut to finish up.
The wedding was in beautiful Estes Park and the drive there was stunning!
Thank you Andrea

PostHeaderIcon Vintage wedding!

This weekend we had a great time up at Devil's Thumb Ranch with the lovely ladies from Pick me! Events, creating a beautiful vintage wedding.

The bride wanted to mix all kinds of textures and colors through glass vases. All of them were filled with a mixture of all white flowers, it was beautiful! I can't wait to see the pictures from Brinton Studios.

The couple chose a three tier white cake with a very simple design and sugar flowers, plus 2 small vintage-like cakes for each one of them. Flavors were Chocolate-hazelnut, lemon-raspberry and Pistachio lovers. The bride's little cake was peanut butter-chocolate and the groom's cake was red velvet.

Thank you Maggy for allowing us to be part of your beautiful wedding.

PostHeaderIcon Kata Fundraiser

We had the pleasure to work along side the Board members from Kata Foundation, at our annual dinner, this past Saturday Nov 14, 2009. Every year in their fall Fundraiser they offer a package dinner for 10. It is a 5 course dinner, enhance with the super juicy steaks from Del Frisco's Steak house and Scott and I provide the personal chef services.
The couple who purchase the dinner and their friends were wonderful, not only for their generosity, but they were warm and welcoming. A real treat!
We want to thank Del Frisco's for their generous donation.
Please visit the KATA website to learn more about their cause and their fundraiser events.

PostHeaderIcon We have been blogged!

I got an e-mail from a bride a had the pleasure to work with this past October at Devil's Thumb Ranch. Alicia Carr, a very earthy-green consious bride, who wanted pies for her wedding instead of a cake. I found the idea very charming and different. She picked 10 different flavors including banana cream pie, lemon meringue, apple-strussel pie, blueberry-peach and more.
Her latest e-mail was to tell me that we have been blogged at Green Wedding Shoes, from California, because her wedding was very green and we had contributed to it by having our pies made with all organic ingredients, and lots of them from local sources, such as the peaches and apples from Ela family farm.
We are thrilled to know that there are people like Ali who care to make the effort of finding ways to make a wonderful event such this a bit more environmentally friendly.
Thank you Alicia for having us been part of your event, and thank you Tec Pataja for including pictures of our humble pies.

Hi Paula,
A big thank you for making our pie bar SO adorable! And tasty! Everyone was raving over the pie and we thought it was delicious too!

PostHeaderIcon Chinese style Wedding

This was a very unique wedding, from the color green cake to the brownish-red Pagoda as the topper and the bamboo center pieces. It was very earthy and easy going.
The cake had very simple and to the point flavors, Vanilla bean and Chocolate truffle.
I had the pleasure to work with Sarah Hays from Hays photography (hope to post images from her once they are in)

PostHeaderIcon End of wedding season

It has been long since I last visited my own blog. Summer came like a hurricane, even thought i tried to keep up with baking, decorating, delivery and the blog, i new something had got to give.
October is a great time to fall back into the habit of writing, specially on a snowy day like today, 8-10" already on the ground and more to come, Got to love it!
A lot of the pictures from the rest of the summer are already on our website. We had a great summer, lots of cakes, cookies and other goodies, and the introduction of new all organic ingredients. We are now using all organic jams from Ela Family farm in Hotchkiss Colorado, finally found organic fair trade sugar, organic flour, and organic dairy, and are possibly finish with the hunt for organic spices!
We traveled a lot this summer to mountain vicinities to deliver wedding cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, and more. Although we love the mountains, it was hard some days, specially when having 13 individual cakes on tree stumps going up Berthoud Pass - frightening.

Anyway, this time we'll make sure to keep our blog up to date. New and exciting events are coming our way and we want you to be part of them. A calendar with updates on classes, events, and open tastings will be up shortly.
